I found about search and rescue before I even got Ginny. When I didn't have a clue about dogs themselves, I was in heaven even if I could just pet them. In this state of mind I joined a local rescue group at their training. I must admit I wasn't really paying attention to their training, I was mostly just petting dogs there, mostly of course Aussies Blum, Tax and Urch. I still managed to get a slight idea of how this whole thing works and I even got "lost" so that one dog could practice searching on me. Being curious as I am I later on checked out SAR competiton held in my city. Dogs competing there really caught my attention with their obedience, their skills to master obstacles and just hanging on a rope, going up and down a building All the above and the fact that Ginny's breeder and Ginny's mum are a great SAR team, got me thinking about joining them. Just for fun we attended their training and we were hooked. It's been almost three years since our first training and we're getting better and better at it. Last year I did my part of exams and in November we went to our first exam, as a rescue team. It's actually a pre-exam, but still a good experience for us both. If all goes well we're going to attend a first real exam this fall.
